  • 6 May 2002: NSS 3.4.1 is now available. This release includes several bug fixes.
  • 6 May 2002: NSS 3.4 is now available. This release has several new SSL functions, a new SSL server session cache implementation, and six new AES TLS ciphersuites. It also contains a partial implementation of the NSS 4.0 (code name Stan) functions.
  • 12 December 2001: NSS 3.3.2 is now available.  This release includes several bug fixes.
  • 12 November 2001: JSS 3.1.1 is now available.  This release includes several bug fixes.
  • 9 November 2001: NSS 3.3.1 is now available. This release includes several bug fixes.
  • 26 July 2001: NSS 3.3 is now available. This release enables JSS (3.1 or newer) to use NSS shared libraries and implements five new DHE cipher suites for SSL/TLS on the client side (courtesy of Dr. Stephen Henson).
  • 6 April 2001: NSS 3.2.1 is now available. This release includes improved SSL performance, bug fixes, and simplified build instructions.
  • 12 March 2001: JSS 3.0, the first public release of a Java interface for NSS 3.2, is now available.

  • 26 January 2001: NSS 3.2 Beta 3 is available.
  • 24 January 2001: PSM 2.0 Plan is now available. PSM 2.0 (Codename: PIP) will run in-process as a fully integrated Mozilla component.

    • NSS 3.2 Beta 1 is available. NSS 3.2 provides support for shared libraries for the first time.

  • 5 December 2000: NSS 3.1.1 has been released. This release fixes a bug in the prime number generation code in the freebl library of NSS 3.1. Follow this link to see updated build instructions for NSS 3.1.1.
  • 28 November 2000: Source code for Netscape PKCS #11 Test Suites is now available in the Mozilla CVS tree.
  • 22 November 2000: NSS 3.2 Plan for high-performance release of NSS in the form of shared libraries/DLLs has been published.
  • 17 October 2000: NSS 3.1 has been released. This release has been tested on 18 OS releases. Follow this link to see the Build Instructions for NSS 3.1.
  • 15 September 2000: NSS 3.1 Beta 1 Release is available. This release provides, for the first time, a complete open-source implementation of the crypto libraries used to implement security features in all Netscape and iPlanet products.
  • 12 September 2000: Preliminary PSM build instructions for Unix are available.
  • 8 September 2000: New NSS build instructions for Unix are available. It is now possible to build NSS (including RSA) on Solaris and Linux without a BSAFE license.
  • 8 September 2000: New RSA implementation has been checked in. NSS 3.1 beta date has moved forward to 9/11/2000, based on the RSA patent announcement.
  • 18 August 2000: DES and DSA have been checked in. The implementation of DES completes work on symmetric key ciphers used in all Netscape products. The DSA implementation is the first NSS code based on MPI. DSA is a prerequisite for full TLS and S/MIME compliance and permits the use of the S/MIME Toolkit for signed email applications.
  • 21 July 2000: Implementations of Arcfour and PRNG (per FIPS PUB 186-1) have been checked in; see http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/security/nss/lib/freebl/.
  • 18 July 2000: NSS 3.1 Plan for a complete open-source implementation of the NSS crypto libraries is now available.
  • 20 June 2000: S/MIME Toolkit and two S/MIME testing utilities are now available in the Mozilla CVS tree.
  • 9 June 2000: Build Instructions for NSS are now available.
  • 17 May 2000: PKCS #11 Conformance Testing page is now available, with information about the Netscape PKCS #11 Test Suites.
  • 11 April 2000: PSM source code is now available in the Mozilla CVS tree.
