Mozilla Mail and XUL

  • Standard toolkit widgets: Menus, toolbars, buttons, combo boxes, etc. Everything that is presented to the user.
  • Use of DOM to manipulate widgets on the fly
  • For "high volume" widgets, use RDF to reflect data
  • All UI based on XUL is "skinnable"
  • Examples: 3-pane window, Filter Editor, Subscribe window
  • XBL makes application-specific widgets easy
