Previous Updates

Mozilla 1.6 Alpha

Mozilla 1.6 Alpha was released on Halloween. This latest version features many Mail & Newsgroups improvements, including vCard support, an option to remove mail from a POP server after x days and a preference for placing the user's signature above quoted text when composing an email or newsgroup posting. In addition, there's backend support for anchoring the position of particular Navigator windows in stacked groups (the Window Layers extension provides a UI for this), Reload has been implemented in the View Source window and a new about:about URI lists the various about: commands.

Bugzilla

Bugzilla 2.16.4 and Bugzilla 2.17.5 have been released. 2.16.4 is the latest stable update while 2.17.5 is the newest development version. In accordance with the Bugzilla Security Advisory for 2.16.3 and 2.17.4, all users are urged to upgrade. A new Bugzilla Status Update is also available.

Nvu

Lindows.com has announced Nvu, a new Composer-based Web publishing application for Linux. Version 1.0 of the MPL/GPL/LGPL-licensed program is expected in the first quarter of 2004. Disruptive Innovations, the company started by ex-Netscape engineer Daniel Glazman, has been contracted to lead the development work.

Mozilla Thunderbird

The build requirements for Mozilla Thunderbird have changed.

Mozilla Firebird Installer

Windows installer nightly builds of Mozilla Firebird are now available.

Default Mac OS X Mozilla Firebird Theme

Kevin Gerich's Pinstripe is now the default theme for Mac OS X builds of Mozilla Firebird. As part of the change, tweaks and improvements have been made to Pinstripe, with Stephen Horlander providing a new set of icons. A screenshot of the new-look Pinstripe is available.

Mozilla Firebird Browser CVS Partition

The Mozilla Firebird partition in the CVS repository has been opened up to anyone with Seamonkey CVS write access. Up until today, permission to check in to the Browser partition was restricted to a small group of core Firebird developers, or peers. Now everybody that has been granted Seamonkey CVS write access can make changes to files in the mozilla/browser, mozilla/toolkit and mozilla/chrome directories, providing that their patches receive reviews from one of the Firebird peers first. The current peers are Ben Goodger, Blake Ross, Brian Ryner, Pierre Chanial and David Hyatt.
