    • Learn more about image lib and the new design.
    • Fix a couple select mozilla 0.9 bugs, probably the tabbing issues since they're the only ones that clearly support the embedding effort.
    • Plugins are hosed and need some love with regard to events. Need to gel with av and figure out how to fix this.

    • Detailed planning for XUL/XBL/Toolkit issues in embedding

Summary

  • We are focused on stability, bloat and memory leak reduction and performance work.
  • The XML/DOM team resolved ~16 bugs last week (bugs not assigned to us do not show up).
  • We didn't get much work done due to celebrating the launch of Netscape 6.

People

  • Tom will be in Mountain View from November 14th to November 21st.
  • Nisheeth will be on vacation from November 20th to December 17th.
  • Johnny will be on vacation from December 18th to January 3rd.
  • Peter Van Der Beken (our newest member) will hopefully be able to start working on the week beginning November 20.

    • Worked on creating an automated regression tester for parser ( 95%done )
    • Reviewed a part of Rickg's code.

    • No status, but:
    • Spent thursday and friday in a W3C DOM face to face meeting hosted by Oracle at the Oracle Conference Center.
  • Heikki Toivonen (heikki)
    • Getting prepared for XML/DOM team management while Nisheeth is on vacation.
    • I am now the default owner of the XML component in Bugzilla.
    • Set milestones for the bugs I intend to work on during next year.
    • Tested Tom Lendacky's patch & test programs to the XML Extras component.
    • Tried to figure out why mason did not like the removal of nsIContent::IsSynthetic(), no progress.
  • Johnny Stenback (jst)
    • Celebrated the release of Netscape 6.0.
    • Worked on reducing the amount of code in the HTML content model implementation in mozilla.
    • Worked on reducing the size of the content model in mozilla.
    • Spent thursday and friday in a W3C DOM face to face meeting hostedby Oracle at the Oracle Conference Center.
    • Had an initial discussion with jband and vidur about using XPConnect in DOM land in stead of using the generated glue code we use today to connect JavaScript to the native DOM.
  • Nisheeth Ranjan (nisheeth)
    • Helped Eric Krock with Netscape 6 release note firedrill on Monday
    • Attended XSLT/XML Query task force meeting on Tuesday
    • Attended XML Query face to face meeting on Wednesday and Thursday
    • Lots of celebration shipping Netscape 6 on Tuesday and Friday

    • Put up sample test images gleaned from bug reports on a publicly accessible site. This was requested by some folks at RedHat. It has been okayed by Netscape Legal.
    • Meeting 11-15-00: ImgLib changes and how to coordinate with GFX and Necko.
    • Meeting: with Chris Saari. Overview of ImgLib, current and proposed.
    • Friday Party was great fun.

    • Worked on revising HTTP interfaces.
    • Initial code for Unix DNS-on-separate-thread.
    • New computer expected on Monday!!

NSS

We have just published the NSS 3.2 Project Plan.

The two main goals of the NSS 3.2 release are crypto performance and shared library/DLL support. The tentative final release date is Jan. 31, 2001.

We will test the release on our usual list of platforms. If your platform is not in the list and you can help us run the NSS QA test on your platform, please let us know.
