Subject: [ANNOUNCE] NSS 3.8 Release Date: Thu, 10 Apr 2003 10:31:03 -0700 The NSS 3.8 release is now available at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/security/nss/releases/NSS_3_8_RTM/. The cvs tag is NSS_3_8_RTM. NSS 3.8 requires NSPR 4.3, available at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/nspr/releases/v4.3/. The new features in NSS 3.8 are listed below. Please refer to the NSS 3.8 project plan at http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/nss-3.8/nss-3.8-plan.html for more details. I will post the NSS 3.8 release notes on this mailing list soon. New features: 1. Integrated the elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) code contributed by Sun Labs. 2. Implemented FIPS 180-2 SHA-256, SHA-384, and SHA-512. 3. Implemented software integrity check of the softoken. 4. Made CRL updates in the softoken atomic. 5. Poll for smartcard/hardware token removal during an SSL client auth connection. 6. Documented the ASN.1 templates and the classic and QuickDER decoders. Wan-Teh Chang
