March 31, 1998                                 
The first developer release of the source code to Netscape Communicator was made available.  The Mozilla Project is launched.
September 1998 Began making nightly test builds available for testing on Mac, Linux and Windows.  QA interest grows and community begins to build  to over 100,000 testers in the coming months and years.
October 1998          
Began replacing much of the 5.0 codebase with a new XPFE architecture based on the new NGLayout rendering engine.


June 5, 2002 Mozilla 1.0 is released.


July 15, 2003   
The Mozilla Foundation was created to promote the development, distribution and adoption of the award winning Mozilla standards based web applications and core technologies, including the Gecko browser layout engine.
